Hi, I’m Zicheng, a postdoctoral researcher at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), University of Queensland. My work revolves around tackling one of the trickiest environmental challenges—PFAS, the infamous “forever chemicals” that just don’t want to leave! I specialise in removing them from tricky environments like biosolids, soil, and landfill leachate. Right now, I’m leading a pilot project on PFAS removal and working to bring PFAS sorption technologies from the lab to the real world.
Before my postdoc, I did my PhD at UQ’s Australian Centre for Water and Environmental Biotechnology (ACWEB), where I dived deep into the fascinating world of novel nitrogen cycle microorganisms. Science has always been my playground, and I love finding creative ways to turn research into real solutions for a cleaner planet.
